New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: The trailer of Om Raut's periodical drama 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior' was released by actor Ajay Devgn on Tuesday. The video shows Tanhaji as a fierce Maratha warrior, who defeats a big empire of Uday Bhan. Kajol will be seen playing Ajay's love interest in the film. Sharing the trailer on Instagram, Ajay wrote, " 4th Feb 1670: The surgical strike that shook the Mughal Empire! Witness history like never before."
Set in the 17th century, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is based on the life of Tanaji Malusare-- an unsung warrior and the military leader in the army of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, founder of the Maratha Empire. The periodical drama is slated to be released on January 10.

The film marks the reunion of Kajol and Ajay on the screen for the first time in ten years. The couple had last featured together on-screen in comedy film Toonpur Ka Superhero. In Tanhaji, the duo will play the role of Tanhaji Malusare and Savitribai Malusare. Saif Ali Khan also features in the film. He will portray the role of an antagonist Uday Bhan--a Rajput warrior who works for the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. Other characters who will play the supporting role in the periodical drama include Sharad Kelkar, Luke Kenny, Neha Sharma, Padmavati Rao, among others.
The film marks the 100th movie of Ajay Devgn, who began his journey as an actor in 1991 with Phool Aur Kaante.
On the professional front, Ajay is linked to a number of projects such as Turram Khan, Sooryavanshi, RRR, Bhuj: The Pride of India, Maidaan, The Big Bull that will be released next year. Kajol, on the other hand, has paired with video streaming giant Netflix for Tribangha. Meanwhile, Saif will also be seen in Jawani Jaaneman that will be released on November 29, 2019.
