Areum, a former member of the Kpop girl group T-ara, has reportedly been hospitalized after attempting suicide. According to a report by Osen, she made this attempt early in the morning on March 27 and is currently receiving treatment, although she has not yet regained consciousness.
In 2019, Areum married a businessman who was a few years older than her, and the couple has two children together. However, in December 2023, Areum announced that she would be separating from her husband and expressed her plans to marry her current boyfriend once the divorce was finalized.
Days before her suicide attempt, Areum shared pictures alleging domestic abuse she had faced in her marriage. She claimed that her husband had physically assaulted her in front of their child, leading her to seek refuge at her parents' home. Areum had also revealed on a variety show called "Between Marriage and Divorce" that she had been concealing many painful truths about her ex-husband.

In December 2023, Areum introduced her boyfriend to the public and shared their plans to get married. She expressed her gratitude for having found someone who brought happiness into her life, despite both of them experiencing pain.
