The topic of egg freezing, once considered taboo, is now gaining prominence as celebrities from Bollywood and Tollywood, like Mrunal Thakur and Mehreen Pirzadaa, openly discussed their personal experiences with it. The ‘Sita Ramam’ recently revealed her consideration of egg freezing—a medical technique that involves the extraction and preservation of a woman's eggs, effectively pausing their aging.
Following Mrunal's revelation, Mehreen Pirzadaa, known for her roles in popular films such as ‘F2’ and ‘F3’, shared her own experience with egg freezing through a touching and transparent video on social media. She talked about her decision-making process and the emotional and physical hurdles she encountered. By sharing her story, Mehreen helped demystify the procedure and underscored the importance of having open discussions about such personal health decisions.
Inside Mehreen Pirzadaa's Egg Freezing Journey
Mehreen Pirzadaa took to her Instagram handle and shared the video of the whole procedure of her egg freezing journey. She wrote, “After 2 years of trying to make up my mind to go through this process I’m so happy that I finally did it. I was contemplating whether to share something so personal or not. But then I thought to myself that there are so many women like me who haven’t yet decided when to get married or have a baby and I think it’s very important to safeguard yourself for the future. I think all women should do this to avoid complications later on.”
“We don’t talk about this much as it is considered to be a “taboo” topic. With the help of technology, we are able to make better decisions for ourselves so why not? It’s my dream to become a mother and I didn’t want to throw it away just because I was a few years late. Did it hurt? Sometimes. Was it challenging? A lot. Especially for someone like me who has a phobia of needles, blood and hospitals. I faint everytime I go to a hospital,” she went on to state.
Mehreen went on to state, “The constant emotional turmoil that you’re going through because of all the hormonal injections is not easy. But if you ask me - was it worth it?? HELL YES! Whatever you choose to do, just do it for you.”
