Thangalaan Box Office Collection Day 2: Chiyaan Vikram's latest film, Thangalaan, debuted amidst much anticipation on August 15, 2024, as one of the key regional releases during the crowded Independence Day period. While the film initially opened with a solid response, its performance took a significant dip on the second day. Despite the strong competition from other major releases, Thangalaan managed to sustain a reasonable level of box office business. The Tamil movie received enthusiastic acclaim from both audiences and critics alike. The film stars Vikram in the lead role, with a supporting cast that includes Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Daniel Caltagirone, Pasupathy, Hari Krishnan Anbudurai, and Sampath Ram.

Thangalaan Box Office Report:

Directed by Pa Ranjith, Thangalaan explores the historical significance of the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF). On its opening day, the film made a strong debut at the box office, earning an estimated ₹13.3 crore net in India. However, on its second day, Thangalaan saw a drop, with early estimates placing its earnings at around ₹4 crore net, bringing the total to approximately ₹17.3 crore. The film’s Tamil occupancy on August 16, 2024, was 32.57%. The occupancy rates varied throughout the day, with morning shows at 20.46%, afternoon shows at 29.60%, evening shows at 31.27%, and night shows at 48.94%.

Thangalaan Budget

Thangalaan was reportedly produced with a budget of ₹140 crore, covering both production and promotional costs. The film is being exhibited on around 1,600 screens worldwide.

About Thangalaan

Directed by Pa. Ranjith and produced by Studio Green, Neelam Productions, and Jio Studios, is set during the British Raj. The film chronicles the journey of Thangalaan, a powerful tribal leader, who, alongside his tribe, assists Lord Clement, a British General, in the search for gold in their village. As their quest unfolds, they face the wrath of Aarathi, a sorceress, leading Thangalaan into a fierce confrontation with her.

Thangalaan seems to connect strongly with its audience, thanks to its compelling story, stellar cast, and effective direction. Chiyaan Vikram, renowned for his commanding performances, reinforces his stellar reputation through his role. The music and background score for Thangalaan are composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, marking his first collaboration with Ranjith and his third with Vikram.
