The Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihotri took to Instagram to commemorate the film's three-year anniversary. The movie, which features a talented cast, including Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar and Pallavi Joshi, tells the story of the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus. As Agnihotri celebrated this milestone, he also shared exciting news about his upcoming project, The Delhi Files. According to Agnihotri, The Delhi Files will delve into the "darkest" truths, promising to reveal shocking and disturbing realities. 

He wrote on his Instagram handle, “Dear friends, they tried to silence me. They tried to erase history. But The Kashmir Files became a movement—shaking the nation and exposing the truth of the Kashmiri Hindu genocide. The Kashmir Files was more than a film; it was a revolution, a voice for the voiceless, and a relentless fight for justice.”

“If The Kashmir Files disturbed you, The Delhi Files will destroy you—because my life’s mission is to tell the darkest, most buried, untold truths of our history, no matter how uncomfortable they are,” Agnihotri further explained.

About The Delhi Files: The Delhi Files, slated for release on August 15, 2025, is a film that delves into the tumultuous period of India's partition, evoking strong emotions while providing a critical examination of the era's events. Director Vivek Agnihotri emphasised the film's purpose, stating, "This film is about showing them the mirror. It's about connecting hearts and reflecting on the truth." 

Through a combination of powerful storytelling and rigorous research, The Delhi Files sheds light on pivotal events, including Direct Action Day, Noakhali and Bengal's political landscape in the 1940s, which have been largely overlooked in mainstream narratives. Agnihotri's meticulous approach involved traveling across 20 states, studying over 7,000 research pages, 1,000 archived articles and reading 100 books related to the historical events depicted in the film.
