On the second day of its release, The Kerala Story produced by Vipul Shah, has exceeded expectations, and is gaining attention from industry experts. The movie's controversial subject matter has sparked a conversation about the line between propaganda and art, and it continues to draw in a large audience.
After the massive success of The Kashmir Files directed by Vivek Agnihotri, it became evident that audiences are interested in learning about controversial topics. The film exceeded expectations on the first day, earning Rs 8.03 crore, which may not seem like a high number, but when compared to the earnings of stars like Akshay Kumar and Kartik Aaryan, who earned 2.55 crore (Selfiee) and 6.50 crore (Shehzada) respectively on the first day, it is a significant accomplishment.
The Kerala Story has continued to exceed expectations on its second day at the box office, with a significant increase in earnings of over 50 per cent. The Kerala Story, as per reports, has earned Rs 12.50 crore India net on its second day (early estimates). As a result, this could bring the film's total earnings in the first two days to an impressive Rs 19.50-21.50 crore. This is especially noteworthy considering the film was produced on a tight budget.
These figures reflect the film's performance until the 9 pm shows at various locations, and the earnings may increase further depending on its performance during night shows. Due to the high demand, the filmmakers have introduced midnight shows in several locations, which was last done for Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan.
About The Kerala Story
The Kerala Story is reportedly based on the real-life experiences of Hindu and Christian women from Kerala who had converted to Islam and joined ISIS. It features Adah Sharma as Shalini Unnikrishnan/Fatima Ba, a nurse who was kidnapped and brainwashed by terrorists.
The movie also stars Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani, and Sonia Balani in pivotal roles and was initially advertised as a narrative about over 32,000 Kerala women who had purportedly been influenced by Islamic extremists. But as criticism began to pour in online about the false information propagated by the film, the figure was reduced to three.
