'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' is one of the most popular and loved television shows and has also become one of the longest-running sitcoms. Fans were heartbroken after the beloved character Dayaben, played by Disha Vakani, left the show. There has been a lot of speculation regarding who will replace Disha Vakani as Dayaben. In a recent interview, Jennifer Mistry who played the role of Mrs Roshan Singh Sodhi revealed that the makers auditioned a 28-year-old actress for the role of Dayaben.

In the video going viral on Reddit, Jennifer said, "She is 100% Daya. Ek bechari ladki ko toh malum hai ki 3 saal se uska audition le rahe hain. Delhi se usko bulate hain. Only thing is that she’s very young. I think she’s 28-29 years old, bohot age gap dikhega karke uska nahi hua.”

“But bilkul Disha. Uska humara saath mock shoot hua hai. Humara, Dilip ji ka, Amit ka, Tappu sena ka, sabka alag alag hua hai. Of course thoda face alag hai but taiyaar hogi and apne aankh band ki toh aapko farq hi nahi pata lag sakta,” she further added.

Producer Asit Modi earlier shared an update on looking for a replacement for Dayaben. He said, "I am looking for a new Daya Bhabhi. It is not easy to play the role of Dayaben. Everyone knows the way Disha Vakani did it. Even today, she is missed. It is not easy to find a new person for the role. This does not mean I am afraid. I am not afraid but I am looking for perfection. It is impossible to take Disha’s place. Her performance was great but I am finding somebody who can impress everyone with her style. It takes time but we will have Dayaben back soon.”

For the unversed, Disha Vakani went on maternity leave in 2017 but did not return to 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah'. Several actors including Jennifer Mistry, Shailesh Lodha and Neha Mehta also left the show later on.
