Dubai-based travel influencer and photographer Anunay Sood’s sudden death last month deeply shocked the digital community, especially as very little information was available at the time. More than a month later, the official coroner’s report has now shed light on the circumstances surrounding his passing. According to police and coroner findings, Anunay was found unresponsive in his hotel room at the luxury Wynn Las Vegas, where he was staying during a visit for a car show.
People who were with Anunay Sood initially believed that he was simply in a deep sleep and did not realise the seriousness of the situation. However, when he failed to respond despite repeated attempts to wake him, they grew concerned and immediately contacted emergency services. Paramedics rushed to the scene, where they performed CPR and administered five doses of Narcan, a medication commonly used to reverse the effects of opioid overdoses. Despite their best efforts, he could not be revived. The coroner has concluded that the cause of death was the combined effect of fentanyl and ethanol toxicity.

According to the police report, some witnesses at the scene suspected that an overdose may have been involved. The report also mentions that members of the group travelling with Anunay had been attempting to obtain drugs and had come into contact with a dealer. However, investigators noted that it has not been established whether the substance obtained actually contained narcotics, and this aspect remains unproven.
On November 6, Anunay Sood's family took to his Instagram handle and confirmed his death. The caption read, "It is with deep sadness that we share the news of our beloved Anunay Sood's passing. We kindly ask for your understanding and privacy as we navigate this difficult time. We humbly request you to avoid gathering crowd near personal property. Please keep his family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. May his soul rest in peace. - The family and friends of Anunay Sood (sic)."
Soon after the post went viral, Anunay's fans took to the comments section and dropped reactions. A fan commented, "Remember the good he sparked. Don’t let rumours overshadow a life that inspired so many," another one wrote, "I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending love and strength to friends and family. Rest in peace, Anunay," others also dropped similar reactions.
