Upcoming South OTT Releases In December: The year 2024 is unfolding to be a phenomenal year for South Indian cinema, with a slew of highly anticipated films lined up for release. Cinema enthusiasts are in for a real treat as these movies are poised to captivate audiences on popular OTT platforms in December 2024. The likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, SonyLIV, and Disney+ Hotstar will serve as the perfect platform for several of these eagerly awaited movies, including blockbuster titles like Amaran, Lucky Baskhar and many others.
As the year draws to a close, December 2024 promises to be an action-packed month for cinema enthusiasts, with a plethora of exciting releases to look forward to.
Upcoming South OTT Releases In December
Kanguva
Amazon Prime Video has acquired the OTT streaming rights for Kanguva in India for a whopping Rs 100 crore. This highly anticipated film, starring Suriya, will be available to stream on Prime Video from December 13, 2024, in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, English, Spanish, and French, making it an India-wide OTT release.
Thangalaan
Despite Netflix acquiring the digital streaming rights, Thangalaan's highly-anticipated OTT release has been shrouded in uncertainty. Initial reports hinted at a Diwali premiere on October 31, but the film failed to materialise on the platform on that date. As a result, the Tamil movie's streaming timeline remains up in the air, leaving fans eagerly awaiting an official update on when they can catch it on Netflix.
Amaran
The Tamil film is set to make its OTT debut on December 5, but surprisingly, it won't be available on popular platforms like Amazon Prime or Zee5. Instead, the film will be exclusively released on Netflix, which has reportedly shelled out a whopping Rs 60 crore to acquire the digital rights.
Matka
Varun Tej's recent Telugu thriller, directed by Karun Kumar of Palasa fame, is gearing up for its digital premiere after a lackluster run at the box office following its theatrical release on November 14. However, the film's OTT release is expected to breathe new life into it. Titled Matka, the movie will be available to stream on Prime Video starting December 5, 2024.
