Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor starrer 'Bawaal', directed by Nitesh Tiwari, premiered on Prime Video on July 21, 2023, receiving a phenomenal response. Within a day, the film garnered immense appreciation from both the audience and critics. Overwhelmed by the love and support, Varun Dhawan took to social media to share a heartfelt note, expressing his gratitude.
On his Instagram, Varun shared a series of photos from 'Bawaal' and conveyed his heartfelt thanks to everyone for embracing the film wholeheartedly. He wrote, "Ajju bhaiya ne Mahual bana diya. Thank u for giving bawaal a place In Your heart. I have never received so many calls for any film of mine. The impact this film is having on people is incredible. It’s a conversation starter about the fake image industry and how today we are all in someway slaves to this ideology. Thank u for watching and enjoying Ajju and his family. You are bawaal."

Recently, in a new interview with Variety, Varun talked about the OTT release of the film. He said, "You have to make sure that you have a good film because here (streaming), I don’t think a bad film can survive, to be honest. You have to be a very good film to thrive, because it’s so democratic. The way things function here the word-of-mouth plays in even more."

The actor added, "The whole idea was to pitch this film on a global level, our producer Sajid Nadiadwala had that vision. Him releasing it himself, I don’t think he thought he can do that. But with partners like Amazon, it became much easier."
Speaking of Bawaal, the romantic drama film stars Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor as a troubled married couple. It is helmed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari under Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Earthsky Pictures.
