Bengali Actor Anjana Bhowmick Death: Renowned Bengali actress Anjana Bhowmick, known for her exceptional talent and memorable performances, passed away on Saturday morning in Kolkata at 79. She was reportedly admitted to a hospital in south Kolkata on Friday night due to respiratory issues, marking the end of a remarkable career that spanned several decades. Her daughter Nilanjana and son-in-law and actor Jisshu Sengupta were by her side at the hospital on Saturday.

Born in December 1944, Anjana Bhowmick made her debut in Bengali cinema at the young age of 20 with the film 'Anustup Chanda' in 1964. She quickly rose to prominence, captivating audiences with her acting prowess and screen presence. One of her most notable on-screen partnerships was with the legendary actor Uttam Kumar, with whom she shared the screen in several acclaimed films including 'Thana Theke Aschi', 'Chowringhee', 'Nayika Sambad', and 'Kabhi Megh'. Her performance alongside Soumitra Chatterjee in 'Maheshweta' (1967) was also highly praised by critics and audiences alike.

Anjana Bhowmick's contribution to Bengali cinema went beyond her acting skills. She was known for her dedication to her craft and ability to bring her characters depth and authenticity. Her presence on screen was truly captivating, and she left an indelible mark on the industry.
