New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: Veteran Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi was critically injured on Saturday after her car met with an accident on Mumbai-Pune Express Highway near Khalapur toll plaza Maharashtra's Raigad district over 60 km from Mumbai.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his concern Azmi meeting with an accident and wished her speedy recovery. PM Modi said in a tweet that the news of Shabana Azmi's injury was distressing.
"The news of Shabana Azmi Ji's injury in an accident is distressing. I pray for her quick recovery," PM Modi said.

Highway police patrol teams rushed to investigate the accident site. As per information, her car, in which her husband and noted lyricist Javed Akhtar were travelling, dashed against a truck on the highway towards Pune at around 4.15 p.m. The injured actress was brought out of the car and admitted to MGM hospital in Panvel.
Shabana Azmi was rushed to MGM hospital in Navi Mumbai and is undergoing treatment, news agency PTI quoted Raigad Superintendent of Police Anil Paraskar as saying.
The photos from the accident site on the social media shows Shabana Azmi being helped out of the car with her eye and face can be seen severely swollen. The impact of the accident was so hard that the front passenger's side of the SUV was completely destroyed. Another photo shows the bonnet of the car crushed with wrecked radiator.
