Veteran Marathi actor Sulochana passed away on Sunday at the age of 94. The veteran was facing age-related issues and had featured in more than 250 Hindi and 50 Marathi films. Sulochana began her career with Marathi films in the early 1940s and soon made a swift shift into Hindi films.
The actress appeared in a handful of films where she essayed the role of mother in films starring 'Dil Deke Dekho' featuring Shammi Kapoor, 'Aadmi' starring Dilip Kumar, and was also in 'Jhonny Mera Naam' with Dev Anand.
According to a report in Indian Express, Sulochana's daughter Kanchan Ghanekar confirmed the demise of her mother when she said, "She had age-related health issues and breathing difficulties. She died this evening at 6 pm."
According to the report, the last rites of the actor will be held at her Prabhdevu residence in the city, whereas her cremation will be held on Monday at 5:30 PM at Shivaji Park crematorium. She also featured in 'Kora Kagaz', 'Muqaddar Ka Sikandar' in which she essayed the role of Vinod Khanna's mother. She was also seen playing Jackie Shroff's mother in 'Himmatwala' and also in 'Andar Baahar.'
The actress was featured in many prominent films where either she was seen playing the role of a relative or a mother. The actor also has a long collaboration with superstar Rajesh Khanna where the duo was seen on screen together in several films.
Some of the films include 'Bahraon Ke Sapne', 'Kati Patang', 'Mere Jeevan Saathi', 'Prem Nagar' and 'Adhikar' among others. The actor was honored with Padma Shri in 1999, whereas some of her other titles are 'Sasurvas', 'Vahinichya Bangdya', 'Meeth Bhakar', and 'Dhakti Jau' respectively.
