Vidaamuyarchi Box Office Shutterdown: Vidaamuyarchi had a huge opening on February 6 and made an astounding Rs 26 crore. However, the movie's earnings for all languages gradually declined, unable to maintain the initial pace. Instead of providing Ajith Kumar with a thunderous comeback, the Tamil movie tanked at the Indian box office.

Vidaamuyarchi earned 27 crores on its opening day and then the movie continued to lose money. The Ajith Kumar starrer Tamil movie earned Rs 72.75 crores in the extended first week of release. The second week witnessed a sharp decline with just Rs 7.25 crore, as per industry tracker sacnilk.

Vidaamuyarchi made as little as 7 lakh at the beginning of the third week, which was a dreadful start. The Tamil movie reportedly made only two lakh at the begininng of March, the twenty-second day, and ended the third week with fifty-two lakh. Vidaamuyarchi's net earnings stood at Rs 80.35 crore while the gross collections were Rs 95.1 crore.

Vidaamuyarchi Budget And Its Recovery

Vidaamuyarchi was produced with a budget of 185 crores, as per several media reports. Despite this whopping amount, the Tamil action only grossed 80.35 crores, leaving the Indian box office with a 103.48 crore deficit. This shortfall is significantly more than that of Ajith Kumar's post-pandemic movie, Thunivu and Valimai, which both had budgets over 100 crores.

Vidaamuyarchi OTT Release Date UPDATE

Vidaamuyarchi is scheduled to launch digitally on the OTT platform, Netflix on March 3, 2025. The action-thriller also starring Trisha Krishnan, will be available in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.

For the unversed, the 1997 American movie Breakdown was adapted into the Tamil action thriller Vidaamuyarchi. The movie centers on Arjun (Ajith Kumar), who sets out on a risky quest to save his wife Kayal (Trisha Krishnan), who has been kidnapped by a group in Azerbaijan. Vidaamuyarchi, which is produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under the Lyca Productions label, also features Ajith Kumar, Arjun Sarja, Regina Cassandra, Arav and Ramya Subramanian.
