Viduthalai Part 2 Twitter Review: The highly anticipated Tamil period crime thriller Viduthalai Part 2 premiered on December 20, continuing its gripping tale of conflict between a police constable and the leader of a separatist group. Directed by Vetrimaaran, the sequel delves deeper into the socio-political themes explored in Viduthalai Part 1, based on Jeyamohan's short story Thunaivan. Featuring Vijay Sethupathi and Soori in lead roles, the film has sparked a mix of praise and criticism from audiences.

Viduthalai Part 2 builds on the narrative of its predecessor, intensifying the clash between law enforcement and a revolutionary separatist faction. Vijay Sethupathi, portraying the enigmatic leader Vaathiyaar, delivers a performance that many fans have hailed as one of his best. Soori, stepping away from his usual comedic roles, impresses as the conflicted constable. Manju Warrier, Ken Karunas, Kishore, and other ensemble cast members add depth to the storyline.

While some viewers lauded the film’s dynamic screenplay and raw action sequences, others found the pacing uneven, with certain scenes feeling overly drawn out. The film’s dialogue-heavy approach and focus on political themes received mixed feedback, with some praising its boldness and others calling it "more of a politics class than a narrative film."

Social media reactions reflect mixed opinions. A fan praised the film, stating, “#ViduthalaiPart2 REVIEW 4/5. VJS as Vaathiyaar is one of the best characters in his career. Songs are soulful, and Vetrimaaran’s direction is worth every penny.” Another highlighted the film’s strong opening, writing, “First Half - Engaging. The initial 30 minutes were terrific. VJS is stealing the show with his raw and rustic performance.”

However, not all feedback was positive. A netizen criticized the film’s execution, tweeting, “#ViduthalaiPart2 is overlong and functions more as a political lecture than a compelling narrative. A colossal waste of talent and resources.” Another X user wrote, "#ViduthalaiPart2 is def Vetri’s weakest work, such a shabby making and presentation with barely 2-3 standout moments. Politics aside craft-wise this is a poorly done film."

Vetrimaaran, known for acclaimed films like Visaranai and Vada Chennai, delivers a gritty sequel that retains his signature raw storytelling style. Ilaiyaraaja’s music adds emotional depth, while Velraj’s cinematography captures the film’s intense and rustic atmosphere. However, some viewers felt that the film lacked the cohesive impact of Vetrimaaran’s previous works.

Despite mixed reviews, Viduthalai Part 2 has opened strongly at the box office, holding its ground against major releases like UI, Marco, Rifle Club and Bachhala Malli. Its bold themes and stellar performances have drawn audiences, even as debates over its pacing and narrative continue.
