Tamil actor and music composer Vijay Antony’s daughter Meera passed away on Tuesday, September 19, allegedly by committing suicide. Meera was just 16 years old and was studying in 12th standard. Her last rites will be carried on today in Chennai, after which she will be cremated in Kilpauk. Amid her death news, Vijay Antony’s old statement urging people to avoid taking the extreme step of suicide is going viral online.
The actor disclosed a couple of years ago, that he lost his father, as he committed suicide. According to a report in News18, he said, “No matter how painful life gets, or the kind of difficulties you might have to go through, never commit suicide. It is heartbreaking for the children. My father took his own life when I was 7 and my sister was 5. I have seen how difficult it was for my mother after that and the hardships she has gone through.”

Vijay also talked about the suicidal tendencies in children due to the pressure of studies parents put on them. He said, “They are sent to tuition immediately after school. Remember, you aren’t even giving them time to think. Please don’t do that. Allow them some time to be free. As for adults, I want them to love themselves rather than be obsessed over wealth and success.”
However, the police had a conversation with Meera’s teachers and peers regarding the situation. Her close ones revealed that she was the top performer of her class and the cultural secretary of her school. However, on Tuesday morning, she was found dead hanging to the ceiling fan in her room.

For the unversed, Vijay Antony is a renowned music director and actor in the Tamil Film Industry. Delivering a plethora of hits, he is also known for his exceptional directorial skills and handles his own production house with his wife Fatima. The couple also has a younger daughter named Lara.
