Vijay Deverakonda is all set to return to the big screen with his movie 'Family Star' and is currently busy promoting the film. The movie revolves around Govardhan, who is a man from a middle-class family and wants to live a successful life but has to deal with ego and ego issues in relationships. The movie was recently criticised due to its song 'Kalyani Vaccha Vacchaa' for showing lavish visuals. Vijay has clapped back at trolls for criticising the song without watching the movie.

Vijay said at the event, "I don’t understand, are people genuinely confused or are they just looking to troll us? We have all grown up seeing lavish dream sequences in films. No one here is stupid enough to make a film where a hero asks the heroine to pay money for petrol but has a lavish wedding."

He added, "But even then, so what if he is middle class? Couldn’t he have done better for himself through the story? Let’s watch the film before jumping to conclusions.”

The movie is produced by Dil Raju under the banner Sri Venkateswara Creations. 'Family Star' will hit theatres on April 5. Mrunal Thakur will be seen as the leading lady in 'Family Star'.

On the work front, Vijay Deverakonda was last seen in 'Kushi' along with Samantha Ruth Prabhu. In an interview with Hyderabad Times, director Shiva Nirvana talked about his experience of working with Samantha and Vijay and praised their acting.

“Even though the dream was to direct, I always thought the most I could do in this field was to become an assistant director. But here I am, five years later, working with such good actors like Samantha and Vijay. I’m happy I get to do this,” he told Hyderabad Times.

Talking about Vijay, he said, "I needed an actor who could blend into the character seamlessly without letting their stardom take over, and Vijay was the perfect fit. His chemistry with Samantha in the film will be extraordinary, and the humour and emotions in the film will tug at the heartstrings of the audience. While Ninnu Kori and Majili were intense and emotional, this film will be much more light-hearted."

Vijay will next star in 'VD 12' and not much has been revealed about the movie.
