New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: As we approach the release date of Kabir Khan's 83, it seems the director has landed himself in trouble with cricket fans. The filmmkaer's recent factual error has forced netizens to target him. In a recent interview, Kabir spoke about how 1983 was a turning point for India in world cricket. In the interview, he went on to say that India had never won a cricket world cup match before that.
"Till '83, India had never won a single match in the history of the World Cup," said Kabir Khan. He added that West Indies too had never lost a single match in the tournament till then. Kabir stated the first match match of 1983 WC where India defeated West Indies was a big upset. Cricket fans were quick to point out his factual error and that India had actually won a match against East Africa in 1975 World Cup by 10 wickets.
A user tweeted, "Or ye aadmi #83 WC pe film bana rha hain. Toh dosto aap film se kya kya umeed kar sakte hain...movie ek dum true story pe bani hogi...agar aapko action scenes bhi dikh jaaye to jhuth mat samjhna usko"
