Akshaye Khanna And Karisma Kapoor’s Rumoured Relationship: Akshaye Khanna’s personal life has once again come into the spotlight as the actor enjoys massive praise for his performance as Rehman Dakait in Dhurandhar. While his work continues to win hearts, fans have also grown curious about his long-standing bachelor status. Among the many old rumours resurfacing online, one story that continues to intrigue audiences is his alleged relationship with Karisma Kapoor in the late 1990s.
According to several reports, Akshaye Khanna and Karisma Kapoor were more than just co-stars and friends. After Karisma Kapoor’s reported break-up with Ajay Devgn, she was said to have grown close to Akshaye. Their bond reportedly became serious enough for marriage discussions to take place within the family. Reports suggest that Karisma’s father, Randhir Kapoor, was keen on the match and even approached Akshaye’s father, the late Vinod Khanna, with a formal proposal.
At the time, both actors were doing well professionally and came from respected film families, which made the alliance seem like a natural fit. However, the relationship allegedly hit a roadblock due to objections from Karisma’s mother, Babita Kapoor. As per reports, Babita felt that Karisma was at the peak of her career and did not want her daughter to settle down or slow her professional momentum at that stage. Concerns were also reportedly raised about Akshaye’s career growth at the time, which further complicated matters.
Neither Akshaye nor Karisma ever publicly confirmed or denied these rumours. The actor has always remained private about his personal life. In a past interview, Akshaye spoke candidly about his views on marriage, saying, “I don’t see myself (getting married), I’m not marriage material, as they say. I’m not cut out for that kind of life.” He further explained, “Marriage changes everything. I want full control over my life.” Interestingly, in another older interview, Akshaye had shared a slightly different perspective, saying, “I don’t know. I hope not really…But I don’t have any set image for the woman I’ll marry…if I ever do marry.” These contrasting statements only add to the mystery surrounding his personal choices.

In the clip, Akshaye is seen greeting Karisma and kissing her hand in a respectful gesture, which many fans described as ‘pure class’ and ‘gentlemanly’. While the moment may have been innocent, it reignited speculation about what could have been. Eventually, Karisma married industrialist Sunjay Kapur, while Akshaye chose to remain single and focus on his craft.
