BTS' journey to becoming global superstars was anything but easy. The members once opened up about their rigorous training days during their appearance on the SBS docu-series Archive K, where they shared how their hard work and Bang Si Hyuk’s meticulous approach laid the foundation for their success.
Producer Bang Si Hyuk, who played a pivotal role in creating BTS, revealed that the company was struggling when the group was formed. Their primary goal at the time was simply to “not fail.” This determination led to an intense training process, where every detail of the members’ performances was scrutinized.
Jungkook recalled how Bang Si Hyuk would monitor their practice videos with extreme precision. “Bang PD monitored our performances so strictly that he would press the space bar for our practice videos. If our angles weren’t correct, we would have to practice again,” he said.
Jimin added, “He really checked frame by frame and told us to even align the direction of our eyes.” Jungkook emphasized how detailed these corrections were, saying, “For real, our eye direction and the angle of our necks…”

Jin shared more insights into their demanding training in BTS’ 10-year chronicle, Beyond The Story by Myeongseok Kang. He described how Bang Si Hyuk would analyze their performances down to the smallest details, including finger placements.
“Bang Si Hyuk asked for a little too much back then (laughs),” Jin revealed. “He would be watching playback of our performances on a PC and press spacebar to pause. Then he would critique every angle of our bodies and even our finger placements. We danced the same choreography for two months.”
The choreography for their debut song, No More Dream, was rehearsed to perfection. The members practised until they were in complete sync, matching every movement down to a single frame. Their hard work began to pay off in 2015 when BTS entered the Billboard 200 chart for the first time with their album The Most Beautiful Moment In Life Pt.2. By 2017, they were walking the red carpet at the Billboard Music Awards.

RM recalled feeling nervous at the event but was comforted by the cheers of their fans, ARMY. “I was scared to attend the Billboards. But as soon as I stepped on the red carpet, I heard the shouts of ARMYs. People didn’t know who we were, but thanks to ARMY, people must have thought, ‘They must be a famous international group that is popular here.’”
