BTS' Suga And Suran's Dating Speculation In 2018: In the world of Korean pop, where fans meticulously scrutinise every interaction and collaboration, rumours often surface and spread like wildfire. One such rumour that took the K-pop community by storm was the alleged romantic involvement between BTS' Suga (Min Yoongi) and talented soloist Suran in April 2018. The source of these speculations can be traced back to their musical collaboration on the sultry track 'Wine,' which was released in March 2017.

The song, a smooth blend of hip-hop and R&B, showcased Suga's signature rap and Suran's soulful vocals. Fans were quick to notice their undeniable chemistry, not only in the music but also in the glimpses of camaraderie seen during live performances and social media interactions.

The buzz surrounding their relationship reached its peak when Suran posted a now-deleted Instagram message that read, "I want to love like this," followed by a photo of a table spread with wine glasses. The ambiguous caption fuelled speculation that she might be hinting at a romantic relationship with someone, possibly Suga.

As rumours continued to swirl, fans dissected social media posts, looking for hidden clues. Despite their diligent sleuthing, neither Suga nor Suran confirmed the dating rumours. In fact, both artists vehemently denied any romantic involvement between them.

Speculations surrounding the two singers intensified following an Instagram post by Suran, where she used the Korean word "yoongi" in the caption. Notably, "yoongi" means "shine" and is spelled identically to Suga's given name. Later, Suran took to Instagram to address the issue directly.

On March 31, she wrote, "Hello, this is Suran. First, I’d like to offer my sincere apologies if there is anyone whom I unintentionally wounded. I used the phrase to mean ‘shine’ as in a ‘gleaming luster'. I was happy because after taking a bite of the sweet dessert, my thoughts were suddenly filled with new ideas, and I used the expression to convey my happy feelings. It was a post that I uploaded simply because the macarons sent to me by an acquaintance were pretty, and since I was grateful, I wanted to promote them."

Talking about her relationship with Suga, she wrote, she wrote, "My relationship with Suga, whom I met last year, was entirely related to music; nothing more, nothing less. Despite that fact, I think there will be many people who will continue to misunderstand [the nature of our relationship], which makes me feel very frustrated. I was at a loss for what to do and needed time to think about how to ease the unending anger and insults directed at me. 365 days, 24 hours."

Big Hit Entertainment, the management agency behind BTS, also released a statement to clarify the situation, emphasising that Suga and Suran were nothing more than close friends and colleagues. The agency requested fans to respect their artists' personal lives and privacy.

In hindsight, the dating rumours serve as a reminder of the intense scrutiny that K-pop idols and artists face, often leading to unfounded speculations. While the dating rumours between Suga and Suran eventually faded away, their collaboration on ‘Wine’ remains celebrated for its musical excellence.
