Comedian Abhishek Upamanyu has been receiving online hate after he agreed to a Pakistani user on X. The user wrote, “Indians deserve the racism they face in the West.” The post quickly went viral, with Abhishek facing intense backlash for seemingly endorsing a Pakistani user's negative views about India and its people. Post heavy backlash on X, Abhishek has deactivated his X account. Here is how the whole controversy started:
Post the deadly Pahalgam terror attack, Internet personality Abhijit Iyer Mitra shared an abusive note on X for Pakistani women. Reacting to it, a Pakistani user wrote, “Zero class. Abuses are not equal to humour. The whole world sees your country as this hub of rapists and rightfully so. This is 'funny' according to the average Indian. You lot deserve all the racism you're facing in the west (sic).” Upamanyu wrote ‘Yes’ under the post, which didn’t go unnoticed.
A netizen reacted to the comedian’s response, “Wtf Abhishek Upmanyu !!! Ashamed to ever think you were good. You guys are so blind for hate towards everyone opposing your view they would literally SUPPORT A PAKISTANI in this critical time (sic).”

Who is Abhishek Upamanyu?
Abhishek Upmanyu is an Indian stand-up comedian, writer and YouTuber. He is popularly known for his relatable and observational humour. It is pertinent to note that the Indian entertainment industry has been asked to cut ties with the Pakistani entertainment industry. The decision came after 26 innocent lives were claimed by terrorists in the Baisaran valley of J&K. Also, for about a decade, artists from across the border frequently appeared in mainstream Bollywood movies, until 2016, when New Delhi imposed a blanket ban in response to the Uri attack in Kashmir that killed 19 soldiers.
