Fans of Squid Game have been buzzing with excitement, but recent rumours about Leonardo DiCaprio appearing in the series have been firmly put to rest. Netflix has officially addressed the speculation, calling it “completely false.”

The rumours began when OSEN reported that DiCaprio had allegedly filmed a secret cameo for Squid Game 3 in 2024. According to the report, his role was minor and all details were kept under wraps to avoid spoilers. However, Netflix has now clarified, “Reports of Leonardo DiCaprio’s involvement in Squid Game Season 3 are entirely unfounded.”

While the DiCaprio rumor has been debunked, fans have a lot to look forward to. Netflix recently announced that Squid Game 3 will premiere in 2025. The announcement came alongside news of the record-breaking success of Squid Game 2, which garnered 68 million views in its first week of release, making it the most-watched debut week in Netflix history.

Adding to the excitement, Netflix also released a special teaser poster for Squid Game 3. The poster features Young Hee, the iconic doll from the Red Light, Green Light game, alongside a new robot character named Cheol Su, who made a surprise appearance in the post-credits scene of Squid Game 2.

Squid Game first premiered in 2021, captivating audiences with its intense storyline about a deadly competition targeting individuals in debt. Directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, the show became a global sensation, earning critical acclaim and a massive fanbase.

In a recent interview, Hwang revealed that the concept for Squid Game was initially conceived 15 years ago as a two-hour film but failed to gain traction. It wasn’t until Netflix came on board that the idea was transformed into a series, reaching audiences worldwide. Reflecting on its success, Hwang shared, “I never in my wildest dreams thought it was going to be this huge.”
