The upcoming G-20 Summit hosted in India’s capital Delhi is scheduled from September 8 to September 10. The summit will significantly overshadow and affect the public movement in the capital ensuring the safety of the leaders arriving from across the globe. The Delhi government has thus decided to impose a comprehensive city-wide lockdown. This raises concerns for the moviegoers and fans of Shah Rukh Khan, as the highly anticipated film 'Jawan' will hit theatres on September 7.
The concern further stems from the possibility that cinema theatres might remain closed during this period, as the Delhi government has declared the scenario to be a public holiday. Thus, such an outcome could impact the opening week collection of the film. Delhi stands to be one of the prime markets, and comes second after the Mumbai market in terms of box office earnings.
The official trailer of 'Jawan' is attached below:
The lockdown extends wide, encompassing courts, boards, corporations, educational institutions, and even private offices. Busy areas in Delhi such as Khan Market, Chanakyapuri, and Connaught Place are set to remain closed during the Summit. Although, the government has not yet passed a statement whether the theatres should also be suspended, however if it does, the box office collection of ‘Jawan’ would be affected critically.
The charismatic actor enjoys a healthy fandom in the capital as in the past a heavy amount of collection has been recorded for ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Zero’ from the Delhi market. However, if theatres in specific districts under Delhi are given the permission to remain open, the film’s financial loss will be somewhat mitigated, with the audience able to access the film in those areas.
