Yami Gautam has carved a niche for herself with her power-packed performances since making her Bollywood debut in 2012 with Vicky Donor, which also starred Ayushmann Khurrana. She went on to deliver successful films such as Uri, Lost, A Thursday, Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga, OMG 2, and Article 370. Recently, she starred in Dhoom Dhaam alongside Pratik Gandhi, which is receiving attention on OTT platforms. Despite being a public figure, Yami has always made a conscious effort to shield her personal life and family from the public spotlight. In a recent interview, the actress opened up about how she maintains her privacy.
Yami Gautam shared how she doesn't feel the need to update people about every little detail of her personal life. In an interview with Instant Bollywood, she said, “I am very much aware of social media and of the times we are living in. I also have a social media account, but it’s a very conscious decision that I don’t want to tell you what I ate for breakfast. I don’t want to tell you that I got injured in the gym yesterday. I don’t want to tell you anything.”
She further explained that it’s not about keeping things secret but about questioning the need to share such details. She continued, “Not because I don’t want to tell you, but it’s like, who am I addressing? What is it going to do? Of course, there’s going to be another story for different portals to pick up, but is it necessary? Do I want to be so accessible? Do I want people to come with preconceived notions about me? You know, I don’t want to."
Emphasizing that maintaining privacy helps her in her professional life, she explained, quoting a senior actor: “The less you know about me, the easier it is for me to convince you about the role I am playing.”
Talking about Yami's latest release, Dhoom Dhaam, which premiered on Netflix on February 14, 2025, and garnered positive attention from both critics and audiences.
