Ye Maaya Chesave, the timeless romantic drama directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, continues to captivate audiences even after more than a decade since its release. Starring Naga Chaitanya Akkineni and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in lead roles, the film has earned the status of a classic and introduced many to the beauty of South Indian cinema.

In a conversation with Film Companion South in 2019, Naga Chaitanya and Samantha were asked about the film's Tamil counterpart Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa's bittersweet ending and whether it could be retained in a remake. The then real-life couple had a straightforward answer: No. Naga Chaitanya expressed the sentiment that audiences prefer happy endings, stating, "Whatever happens in the film, at the end we want to walk out happy." This response reflects the film's enduring appeal and the audience's connection to its characters and storyline.

Released in 2010, Ye Maaya Chesave revolves around the life of Karthik, played by Naga Chaitanya, a Hindu engineering graduate with aspirations of becoming a film director. He falls in love with Jessie, portrayed by Samantha, a conservative Christian woman who is older than him and works as a software techie. The film beautifully portrays their love story, which faces several challenges due to their cultural differences and the opposition from Jessie's family.

One of the reasons why Ye Maaya Chesave continues to resonate with audiences is its relatable storyline and realistic portrayal of love. The chemistry between Naga Chaitanya and Samantha is palpable, and their performances are commendable. For Naga Chaitanya, who was relatively new to the industry, Ye Maaya Chesave proved to be a breakthrough role, showcasing his growth as an actor and establishing him as a talent to watch out for.

Samantha, in her debut role, impressed audiences with her charm and screen presence, setting the stage for a successful career ahead. February 26 marks fourteen years of Samantha in the film industry and she took to Instagram stories to express gratitude for the fans' love. With the iconic Ee Hridayam playing in the background, her story read "14 Years Already...Whaaaaa!!!!"

Another highlight of Ye Maaya Chesave is its enchanting soundtrack composed by AR Rahman.
