The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case and arrested Jitender Kumar, a councilor from Ward-14 of the Cheeka Municipality, on charges of soliciting a bribe. The councilor is accused of demanding a bribe of Rs 50 lakh for himself and two of his fellow councilors in exchange for not voting on a no-confidence motion brought against Municipal President Rekha Rani and Vice President Pooja Sharma.

Following a complaint, the ACB investigated the matter and conducted a voice match test of the accused councilor, Jitender Kumar, at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Madhuban. The test confirmed that the voice in the recording matched his. The ACB will also interrogate the other two councilors soon.

The complainant, Vijay Kumar, a resident of Cheeka, stated in his complaint to the ACB Ambala that he is a trusted associate of Municipal Vice President Pooja Sharma. For some time, there had been discussions about bringing a no-confidence motion in the municipality.

During this period, Councilor Jitender Kumar, along with two of his fellow councilors, approached Vijay. They offered to vote against the motion in exchange for Rs 60 lakh for their three votes. A deal was later settled for Rs 50 lakh. After an initial investigation, the ACB registered a case. The accused councilor has already been suspended. The voting on the no-confidence motion was scheduled for July 3.

Vijay Kumar alleged that the three councilors had demanded an advance payment of Rs 6 lakh, with the remaining amount to be paid later. Vijay secretly recorded the entire conversation and submitted it as evidence to the ACB.

When the councilors suspected that the complainant might take legal action, they denied the bribery allegations and tried to distance themselves from the matter. Subsequently, with the consent of Pooja Sharma, Vijay filed a formal complaint with the ACB.

After the ACB's investigation, the voice match test at the FSL in Madhuban confirmed Jitender Kumar's voice.
