Gurugram Police are on high alert to ensure the safe and grand celebration of the Dussehra festival today. Extensive security arrangements have been implemented across the city, where more than 50 large and small effigy burning ceremonies are scheduled to take place.

Extensive Security Arrangements In Place

To maintain law and order, additional police forces will be deployed throughout the night, with a strong presence at major intersections and around housing societies.

Police PRO Sandeep Kumar confirmed that robust security measures are in place. "To handle any emergency, special police companies have been deployed with all necessary security equipment," he stated.

Key security measures include:

Surveillance: Special teams will monitor all event venues using CCTV and drone cameras. Police and women police personnel will also be deployed in plain clothes.

Patrolling: Station police and PCR vans will conduct continuous patrols. Senior officers will also be on the ground to assess the situation. 

Emergency Preparedness: Effigy burning sites will be equipped with an adequate supply of water, fire extinguishers, and ambulances.

Crowd And Traffic Management: Systematic barricading with designated entry and exit routes has been set up around event venues. Additional traffic police have been assigned to manage vehicle flow, especially during processions (Shobha Yatra), and arrangements for vehicle parking have been made near fairgrounds.

Police Commissioner Vikas Arora has issued clear instructions for officers to remain alert and vigilant. He stated that any attempt to spread rumours or disrupt the atmosphere will not be tolerated. The Commissioner also called for compliance with all conditions of the permissions granted by the administration for organizing the festival.

Guide To Major Dussehra Celebrations

More than 50 RavanDahan events are set to take place across Gurugram and its surrounding areas. Most celebrations will feature the burning of effigies of Ravana, Meghnad, and Kumbhkaran, preceded by enactments of the battle between Shri Ram and Ravana and captivating processions with floats.

Key Celebration Venues:

Jacobpura Ramleela Ground: An approximately 35-foot, eco-friendly effigy of Ravana will be burnt using green firecrackers. The event will feature processions with floats of Shiv-Parvati, Radha-Krishna, and characters from the Ramleela.

Shri Siddheshwar Sabha's Ramleela: The RavanDahan ceremony will take place after 9 pm, following an enactment of the Ram-Ravana battle and a recitation of the Sunderkand.

Other Major Locations: Large-scale celebrations will also be held at Gaushala Maidan, Leisure Valley Park in Sector 29, Geeta Bhawan, opposite Bliss Banquet Hall in Sector 17, Sector-5, Palam Vihar, New Colony, Bhim Nagar, Wazirabad, and Sadar Bazar, as well as in various housing societies.

Surrounding Areas: Effigy burnings are also planned in nearby rural areas, including Sohna, Pataudi, and Farrukhnagar.
