The traffic police and Gurugram Municipal Corporation are monitoring 33 identified air pollution hotspots in the city. Vishal, the Joint Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation, stated that the Municipal Corporation and the DCP Traffic have jointly identified 33 hotspot points and are continuously monitoring them. Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar held a meeting with department officials regarding air pollution and its control. After receiving detailed reports from all departments on the work being done at their level to control air pollution, DC Ajay Kumar stated that negligence at any level in this matter will not be tolerated. He instructed all concerned departments to take concrete, effective, and result-oriented steps within a set timeframe.
Directives On Dust Control And Road Infrastructure
The DC directed that air pollution hotspots in the city, especially areas with traffic congestion, be identified and that short-term and long-term action plans be prepared for them. DC Ajay Kumar said that a concrete action plan should be prepared by the GMDA, Municipal Corporation, and Haryana Urban Development Authority for planting and maintaining local plant species and grass to control dust pollution along roadsides. Directives were also given to set clear timelines for road improvement, pothole repairs, greening of medians, and end-to-end pavement work.

Action Against Polluters And Illegal Industries
During the meeting, the action taken under the Environment Protection Act, 1986 against illegal industries, especially units producing oil from waste tyres, and construction activities violating standards was reviewed. During this, Akanksha Tanwar, the Regional Officer of the Pollution Control Board, reported that two such units have been identified in Gurugram and necessary action has been taken against them, resulting in their closure. In the meeting, DC Ajay Kumar gave clear instructions to the concerned departments regarding the inspection and disposal of the Bandhwari legacy landfill, identification and cleaning of water bodies in the municipal corporation area, effective disposal of construction and demolition (C&D) waste, and strengthening the air quality monitoring system.
Awareness Campaign Launched
An awareness campaign will be launched. The meeting specifically discussed making awareness activities for air pollution control more effective. Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar directed that a comprehensive and continuous awareness campaign be launched, actively involving schools, colleges, universities, and Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs).

Officials from the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority, Gurugram Municipal Corporation, Haryana Urban Development Authority, and Manesar Municipal Corporation were present at the meeting. Present at the meeting were HSVP Administrator Vaishali Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sonu Bhatt, DFO Rajkumar, Gurugram SDM Paramjit Chahal, CEO Zila Parishad Sumit Kumar, Badshahpur SDM Sanjeev Singla, Pataudi SDM Dinesh Luhach, Joint Commissioner from Gurugram Municipal Corporation Vishal, Manesar SDM Darshan Yadav, Sohna SDM Akhilesh Yadav, ACP Traffic Satyapal, CTM Sapna Yadav, Executive Engineer PWD Charandeep Rana, Regional Officers of the Pollution Control Board Siddharth Bhargava and Akanksha Tanwar, along with other departmental officials.
