Commuters using Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Limited (GMCBL) city buses will now be charged based on the distance of their journey, replacing the previous system of fares determined by the number of bus stops. The new kilometer-based fare system, which was approved at a board meeting on September 16, 2025, has been in effect since September 24.

Under the revised structure, passengers will pay:

- Rs 10 for a journey up to 6 kilometers.

- Rs 20 for a journey between 6 and 13 kilometers.

- Rs 30 for any journey longer than 13 kilometers.

GMCBL's Chief Executive Officer, Vishwajeet Chaudhary, stated that the new system is designed for "convenience, transparency, and fairness for all passengers." He added, "GMCBL's buses provide an affordable, safe, and environmentally friendly travel option. We appeal to citizens to reduce their reliance on private vehicles and use public transport to promote sustainable mobility in the city."

Fleet And Future Plans

GMCBL currently operates a fleet of 150 modern and eco-friendly buses across 21 routes, equipped with facilities such as GPS tracking, CCTV cameras, and e-ticketing machines. Later this year, new electric buses will be added to the fleet to further strengthen services and expand connectivity to more parts of the city.

Citizens can view all route information and book tickets through the official 'Gurugram App'.
