For better planning, maintenance and transparent monitoring of urban roads, GIS mapping of the roads has been carried out. Under the Mhari Sadak portal, a GIS survey of all 17,627 roads in the Gurugram Municipal Corporation area has been completed and the data has been sent to HARSEC for mapping. 100 per cent GIS mapping has also been completed in the Sohna and Pataudi areas. Preparations will now be made for road improvements.

District-Level Review Of Urban Development And Sanitation

In a district-level review meeting of municipal bodies chaired by Municipal Commissioner and DMC Pradeep Dahiya, the progress of road, sanitation, drainage and urban development works was discussed in detail. During this review meeting held at the corporation office, a thorough review was conducted of the status of ongoing solid waste management, road cleaning, waste processing, legacy waste disposal, stray animal management and pre-monsoon preparations in all municipal bodies of Gurugram district.

Present at the meeting were Additional Municipal Commissioners Ankita Chaudhary and Ravindra Yadav, Joint Commissioners Naresh Kumar, Vishal Kumar and Ravindra Malik, Chief Engineer Vijay Dhaka, Chief Accounts Officer Vijay Singla, Chief Medical Officer Dr Ashish Singla, along with officials from the Municipal Corporation Gurugram, Municipal Council Sohna and Pataudi Jatauli Mandi and the Farrukhnagar Municipality.

Approval Granted For Sanitation Tender

It was reported in the meeting that the system for door-to-door waste collection and MSW transport in Gurugram is currently being operated under a gap arrangement, while the long-term tender process for five years has been approved and is in the bidding stage.

In Sohna, the process of selecting an agency for five years has been completed and a Letter of Intent (LOI) has been issued. In Pataudi, work is ongoing under an interim arrangement, while in Farrukhnagar, waste management is continuing smoothly through the previously approved agency. A satisfactory situation was also noted regarding the mechanical cleaning and sweeping of roads. In Gurugram, agencies are appointed for this work, and their contracts are effective until 2026.

Rubbish Dumping Monitored By 1,200 CCTV Cameras

Digital mapping of roads has been completed in Gurugram, and a blueprint for improvements will be prepared. To monitor those who dump rubbish in the city, 1,200 previously installed CCTV cameras are also being used for surveillance. With the help of the Security Sanitation Force and cameras, ten challans for illegal dumping have been issued so far, and a fine of 50,000 rupees has been collected.

The control room for GMDA's CCTV cameras is established at the GMDA office as well as at the Sector 34 Municipal Corporation office, from where continuous monitoring is being carried out. According to officials, CCTV cameras have also been very helpful in dealing with waterlogging situations previously. In addition, CCTV cameras have also been installed at the Bandhwari landfill and at secondary rubbish dumping points in the city.

Fresh Waste And Legacy Disposal Deadlines

During the discussion on the progress of waste processing plants, it was stated that the tender process for processing fresh waste in Gurugram is ongoing. In Sohna, a proposal for selecting a processing agency for a period of ten years has been sent for approval at a higher level. In Pataudi, work is continuing under a stop-gap arrangement, and in Farrukhnagar, waste processing is being carried out by the approved agency.

Regarding legacy waste disposal, officials reported that LOIs have been issued to two agencies for the remediation of old waste sites in Gurugram, and a target of 100 per cent disposal has been set by February 2028. In Sohna, this work will be completed by 30 June 2026, while in Pataudi, the disposal of legacy waste has already been completed.

350 Kilometres Of Drains Cleaned Ahead Of Monsoon

To tackle the problem of waterlogging before the monsoon, special emphasis has been placed on cleaning drains. In Gurugram, out of a total of 473 kilometres of drains, the cleaning of approximately 350 kilometres has been completed. In Sohna, the cleaning of all drains has been completed, while in Pataudi and Farrukhnagar, this work is in the estimation and approval stage.

Claim To Make The City Stray-Cattle-Free By 2026

The meeting also focused on the management of stray animals and dogs. In Gurugram, a large number of stray animals have been shifted to cow shelters, and a target has been set to declare the city stray-cattle-free by December 2026.
