A video of traffic policemen allegedly taking a Rs 1,000 bribe from a Japanese woman in the Galleria Market area, Gurugram, has gone viral on social media, prompting swift action from senior officials.
The incident occurred during a helmet-checking drive, where the tourist was reportedly stopped for not wearing a helmet. The video recorded by the person sitting beside the woman riding the vehicle went viral, with netizens reacting in anger. In the video, the officers can be seen demanding Rs 1,000 as a fine. However, no receipt was issued after the payment.

Following the outrage, DCP Traffic Dr Rajesh Mohan suspended Zone Officer SI Karan Singh, constable Shubham, and home guard Bhupendra on Monday evening. He emphasised that the police maintain a “zero-tolerance policy” towards bribery.
