On Tuesday, a team from the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) sealed the city's well-known AppuGhar amusement park, located in Sector-29, due to substantial outstanding property tax arrears amounting to Rs 74,350,299.
Corporation officials stated that International Recreation and Amusement Limited, the firm operating the park, had failed to make the payment despite receiving repeated notices.
A corporation team, led by Zonal Taxation Officer BS Chhokkar, arrived at the site and sealed the amusement park after completing all legal procedures. During the operation, officials warned that any institution found to be negligent in paying its taxes would not be spared.
It is important to note that the Appu Ghar amusement park had already been sealed in 2022 by the Haryana Urban Development Authority for the non-payment of crores of rupees in lease rent and penalty amounts. The park has remained closed since that time.
Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya emphasised that the MCG's priority is to strictly enforce tax discipline in the city. He stated that the corporation was forced to take this strict action because the outstanding tax was not deposited despite repeated notices. He added that similar action will be taken against other properties with outstanding tax arrears in the future.

The Municipal Commissioner also highlighted that the revenue received from property tax is used for the city's development works, sanitation systems, and strengthening its infrastructure. Therefore, he said, the campaign to recover outstanding taxes will be intensified to ensure there are no obstacles to the city's development.
