Drama unfolded at the Civil Hospital in Sector-10 on Tuesday afternoon when an accused criminal, arrested recently for kidnapping, managed to escape from police custody during a medical examination. The fugitive, identified as Ashish alias Golu, led police on a chase through the hospital staff quarters and onto the main road before being recaptured approximately one hour later.
The Escape And Manhunt
The Incident: Around 2:00 pm, a police team brought four accused individuals to the hospital for a mandatory medical examination before their court appearance. After the check-up, officers had successfully seated three of the accused in the police vehicle.
The Breakout: As officers were seating Ashish, he forcibly broke free from the grasp of two policemen and fled the scene.
The Route: He ran towards the hospital’s staff quarters, where his movements were captured on CCTV cameras. He subsequently jumped over the boundary wall of the quarters and escaped onto the road behind the hospital.
Police Response: The control room was immediately notified, and all nearby police stations were put on high alert. Police teams quickly set up blockades in the surrounding areas.
Recapture: Following an intense hour-long search and chase, the Gurugram Crime Branch Sector-10 team, with assistance from the public, successfully apprehended Ashish.
Background: The 'Grindr App' Kidnapping Gang
Ashish, a resident of Pichopa Kalan village in Charkhi Dadri district, is part of a gang accused of kidnapping youths after luring them through the dating app, Grindr.
The Arrests: On Sunday, Gurugram police arrested four individuals—Ashish, Ajay, Deepesh, and Anil (all residents of Charkhi Dadri)—from Kurukshetra.

Modus Operandi
Gurugram Case: On Saturday morning, the gang allegedly lured a 20-year-old youth from the Rajendra Park police station area to a location near the Dwarka Expressway. They kidnapped him in a Scorpio car and forced his family to transfer Rs 37,000.
Karnal Case: The gang is also accused of kidnapping another youth from Asandh, Karnal, using a similar method.
The accused were in the process of being processed for court when the escape attempt occurred.
