The Town and Country Planning Department, Gurugram, has announced strict action against illegal constructions and unauthorised commercial activities in Sushant Lok-2 and 3. The department's district town planner-enforcement (DTPE) team will begin sealing procedures this week, following restoration orders issued to more than 60 properties.
According to DTPE officials, 24 properties were found to be running commercial activities such as coaching centres, boutiques, salons, spas, guest houses, clinics, and offices, while 36 properties had illegal constructions. Property owners were given 10 days to respond and halt illegal activities, but many failed to comply. In response, the department is now initiating sealing procedures.
The move has already prompted some residents to stop illegally operated commercial activities voluntarily, and offices that were running without authorisation have been closed. Reports suggest the action is having a ripple effect in neighbouring areas, with more property owners preemptively halting unauthorised commercial use.
DTPE Amit Madholia, present on-site with the enforcement team, said that inspections will be conducted in other areas soon, and notices will be issued on the spot wherever violations are found.
In June, the department had taken on-the-spot action, issuing show-cause notices to around 300 properties. While some owners removed illegal constructions from stilt parking areas, many continued their commercial operations. Consequently, a final order has now been issued, clearing the way for strict action, including sealing and potential cancellation of occupancy certificates for defaulters.
