Haryana Weather: Yellow Alert For Cold Wave, Dense Fog; IMD Urges Farmers To Avoid Early-Morning Irrigation; Forecast

Haryana Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an agrometeorological advisory for Haryana, placing the state under yellow alert for Friday as cold wave conditions and dense to very dense fog are expected at several places over the next few days. The weather department has ruled out any rainfall during this period, warning of persistent cold conditions at many locations across the state.

- According to the latest IMD bulletin, dry weather is likely to prevail over Haryana during the next five days, with chances of little to no rainfall between January 6 and January 10.

- The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Haryana, warning of dense to very dense fog during morning and night hours at many locations and cold wave or cold day conditions at isolated places.

- Dense to very dense fog during the morning hours may significantly reduce visibility, disrupt daily life, and road and rail traffic.

- The minimum temperature is expected to remain below normal, hovering around 5-7 degrees Celsius in most parts of the state, while maximum temperatures are likely to stay near normal at around 16-18 degrees Celsius.

- Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious during morning and evening hours due to reduced visibility and cold conditions.

- According to the IMD, a 'cold day' is declared when the maximum temperature is between 4.5 and 6.4 degrees below the seasonal normal average. If temperatures fall 6.5 degrees below normal, it is declared a severe cold day.

IMD Issues Advisory For Farmers

- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has advised farmers to carry out agricultural operations during afternoon hours to minimise the adverse impact of dense fog. The advisory recommends avoiding early-morning irrigation under foggy conditions.

- In view of the cold weather, farmers have also been urged to protect livestock from low temperatures by keeping animals indoors at night, providing warm drinking water and ensuring proper ventilation without exposing them to cold winds.

- The weather department has further advised farmers to regularly monitor official weather forecasts and agrometeorological advisories to reduce potential crop and livestock losses during the ongoing winter spell.
