Haryana Woman Who Killed Her Son Now Drowns Minor Niece, Had Murdered 2 More Children; Shocking Reason Revealed

Haryana: A chilling incident has come to light from Haryana's Panipat district, where a wedding celebration tragically turned into a bloodbath. In the village of Naultha, a six-year-old girl’s life was brutally taken by her own aunt, who is now suspected of being a psychopathic killer.

The child, who had attended the wedding with her family, was drowned by her aunt in a water-filled tub in a storeroom. The room was then locked from the outside, raising immediate suspicions when the girl went missing during the ceremony.

According to NDTV report, the shocking motive behind the murder was that the aunt, Poonam, couldn’t bear the thought of anyone being more beautiful than herself, and thus decided to kill her niece.

Poonam, a resident of West Ramnagar in Sonipat, drowned her six-year-old niece, Vidhi, on Monday while the family was gathered for a wedding in Sonipat.

Vidhi, the victim, was from Sonipat and had travelled with her family to Naultha in Panipat to attend a relative's wedding. She was accompanied by her grandfather, Pal Singh, grandmother, Omwati, father Sandeep, mother, and her 10-month-old brother.

The tragedy unfolded when the wedding Bharat, arrived in Naultha at around 1:30 pm on Monday. Vidhi’s father received a call shortly after, informing him that his daughter had gone missing. The family immediately began searching for her, and about an hour later, Vidhi's grandmother went to a storeroom on the first floor of the house. The door was locked from the outside, but when she opened it, she found Vidhi’s body submerged in a water tub, her feet still touching the ground.

Vidhi was rushed to NC Medical College, where doctors pronounced her dead. Her father later filed an FIR, claiming that she had been murdered.

Further police investigation uncovered the chilling truth that Poonam, Vidhi’s paternal aunt, was responsible for the crime.

A Disturbing Pattern of Child Murders

According to a report by Jagran.com, Poonam has a history of drowning children, driven by intense jealousy and resentment. She reportedly killed children because she couldn’t bear the thought of anyone being more attractive than her. Police stated that Poonam specifically targeted young, pretty girls.

In total, Poonam has confessed to murdering four children three girls and her own son by drowning them under similar circumstances. In 2023, Poonam had murdered her sister-in-law's daughter, and later, that same year, drowned her own son to avoid suspicion. Most recently, in August of this year, Poonam killed another girl in Siwah village, simply because the child was looking "prettier" than her.

For some time, the deaths of these children had been regarded as tragic accidents. It was only after Poonam confessed to the murders during questioning in the Vidhi case that the full extent of her crimes was uncovered.
