The body of a woman found inside a blue suitcase in a drain on the Village Sillakheda road remains unidentified. Police teams are currently working to establish her identity. Based on a complaint filed by Gurpej, a resident of Village Sillakheda, a case has been registered against unknown persons for murder and destruction of evidence.
Preliminary Investigation Details
Preliminary investigations suggest that the woman was strangled to death. Her bones were broken to fit the body into the suitcase. Investigations revealed that the suitcase was purchased recently, as the plastic wrapping was still intact on it. Two ladies' suits were found in a bag near the body, with wrappers bearing the address of a shop in Assandh. The postmortem has not been conducted yet and is scheduled for Thursday.
Discovery Of The Body
Gurpej Singh, a farmer from Village Sillakheda, stated that his fields are located along this route, and he frequently travels there by bike. He first noticed the suitcase lying in the drain on Monday but assumed someone had discarded an old bag. On Tuesday, he saw that the suitcase’s zipper was open and a woman’s hands and feet were protruding from it. Upon closer inspection, he informed the police. Locals mentioned seeing the suitcase a day earlier but initially ignored it, thinking it was garbage.
Water Exposure
Revealed the Crime Police believe that water entered the suitcase, causing the body to swell, which forced the zipper to burst open and exposed part of the corpse. This led to the discovery of the crime. Currently, the police have two main leads for identification: a tattoo on the deceased's wrist and the two suits found nearby. The wrappers indicate a shop in Assandh, Karnal. Police are investigating in the Assandh area as well. The location where the body was dumped is about 200 to 250 meters from the Khanauri Road bypass, suggesting the killer may have used a vehicle to transport and dump the body.
Forensic Observations
Police officials stated that the murder likely occurred two days ago. Typically, a body dumped in water swells and floats to the surface by the second day. Water entered the suitcase, causing the body to bloat and break the zipper. Marks were found on the woman's neck, and there were bloodstains from her nose, indicating death by strangulation. The victim was over 5 feet tall, yet she was forced into a suitcase measuring roughly two feet by breaking her bones.

CCTV Footage And Local Inquiries
Police are scanning CCTV footage from Khanauri Road and the Assandh-Kaithal Road. Since there are no cameras at the specific spot where the body was found, footage from nearby roads is being analyzed. Information regarding missing women is being gathered from nearby police stations and villages. So far, there are no reports of missing women from the immediate vicinity. The police are also trying to trace the tailor or shop in Assandh linked to the clothes found.
Postmortem Scheduled For Thursday
The body has been kept in the hospital mortuary. The postmortem will be conducted on Thursday by a board of doctors. If the body is identified, it will be handed over to the family after the procedure. SMO Dr Sachin Mandale confirmed that the identity is still unknown. City Police Station SHO Geeta stated that the police are investigating the case strictly from a murder angle, with teams actively working on leads.
