Following the murder, the deceased’s parents and relatives, along with public members, staged a protest on Sulur Road, demanding strict action against perpetrators. Responding to the incident, Inspector General of Police (West Zone) R. V. Ramya Bharathi visited the protest site and held discussions with the agitators, assuring them of a proper investigation into the incident, Times of India reported.

One of the relatives of the deceased girl, Senthil Kumar, told ANI that the family is still unaware of how the incident unfolded. “We don’t know what could have happened; we only received information late yesterday evening. First, they said the girl was missing, but later they said she was found dead on the lake shore. Following that, hundreds of students and the public staged a roadblock protest seeking justice," Kumar said.

“However, the police forcibly pushed them away from the spot, and the parents were taken to the Sulur police station for a compromise. We told them not to sign any papers and not to receive anything. We want justice, and we want to see what judgment will be given to these accused individuals. We are now waiting for the DSP to reach the ESI Hospital," he added, according to ANI.

The minor's body has been shifted to the Government Medical College and ESI Hospital for an autopsy. A further probe into the matter is underway.
