INDIA performed poorly on the air pollution index in 2022 even though it has improved three places from the previous year on the list of countries with the worst air quality. India ranked eighth on the list, dropping three places from the previous year, according to the annual world air quality report, which was published by Swiss air quality technology company IQAir.

As per the report, the five most polluted nations in 2022 were Chad, Iraq, Pakistan, Bahrain, and Bangladesh. This time, India fell three positions from the previous year's ranking to eighth place. While Lahore in Pakistan jumped more than 10 places to become the city with the worst air in the world in 2022, according to the annual global survey by a Swiss maker of air purifiers. 

Meanwhile, the air quality index (AQI) of Delhi on Tuesday was recorded in the moderate (150) category, data from the SAFAR showed. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered good, 51 and 100 satisfactory, 101 and 200 moderate, 201 and 300 poor, 301 and 400 very poor, and 401 and 500 severe.
