Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday inaugurated the new party headquarters in Delhi. Along with her, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, MP from Rae Bareli, were also present. The old Congress headquarters was located at 24 Akbar Road in the Lutyens' Bungalow Zone. Sonia Gandhi laid the foundation stone for the new building on December 28, 2009.

According to some media reports, a poster demanding Indira Bhavan to be renamed as 'Sardar Manmohan Singh Bhavan' emerged at the new headquarters. While Congress has yet not make any remark on the same, the anonymous poster was removed later.

Congress' old headquarters was located at 24 Akbar Road in the Lutyens' Bungalow Zone. The new headquarters, however, now stands at 9-A Indira Gandhi Bhavan, Kotla Marg. The foundation for the new building was laid by Sonia Gandhi on December 28, 2009.

Congress Leaders React To The Inauguration

After the inauguration of the new Congress headquarters, senior leader Ambika Soni expressed optimism about the party's future as they prepare for its official opening.

"This will herald good tidings for Congress...The new phase which will begin today will go equally well if not better...," she said.

Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa hailed the inauguration of the new Congress headquarters as a positive sign, emphasizing the country's need for a vibrant opposition.

"This is a very good sign. The country needs a vibrant opposition...This is a very welcome occasion for all secular nationalist forces to be together..," he said.

The event witnessed the presence of prominent party leaders, including members of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), former Chief Ministers, Union Ministers, and MPs.
