India on Saturday slammed Canada for including it on the list of countries labelled as cyber threat "adversaries," describing it as yet another attempt to undermine the nation.

"Another category, Canada has put India into. This categorisation is as per the cyber report that they have issued. It appears to be another example of a Canadian strategy to attack India. You first start absurd and baseless things and then level such an accusation against us. This is absolutely not right," MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said.

Jaiswal further emphasised that the top officials of Canada earlier confessed that they sought to "manipulate global opinion against India." Besides, he also pointed out that the officials accepted that few imputations are made “without any evidence."

"As I mentioned earlier, their senior officials have openly confessed that they are seeking to manipulate global opinion against India, as on other occasions, imputations are made without any evidence," he added.

Jaiswal criticised Canada's National Cyber Threat Assessment 2025-26 report, which alleged that Indian state-sponsored actors "likely conduct cyber threat activity against government of Canada networks for the purpose of espionage.

“We judge that official bilateral relations between Canada and India will very likely drive Indian state-sponsored cyber threat activity against Canada," the report, published earlier this week by the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security, said.

Notably, India was named in the list of cyber threats for the first time, as the October 30 report included a category 'Cyber threat from state adversaries'. While China was named as the "most comprehensive cyber security threat," India was named fifth after China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea.

The relations between India and Canada came under severe strain after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alleged Indian agents of a potential involvement in Khalistan extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar's killing.
