In his first political speech at Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s (TVK) rally in the Vikravandi area of Viluppuram district on Sunday, actor-turned-politician Vijay criticized the existing Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government in Tamil Nadu. Addressing over three lakh people, he alleged that “one family” is looting the state by doing “underground dealing”. He described this as cheating in the name of the Dravidian model.

"Here one group is singing the same song. Applying specific colour to whoever comes for politics and cheating people. They are doing underground dealing...In the name of the Dravidian Model, they are cheating people as they are anti-people government," Vijay said.

Entrusting his faith in the people of Tamil Nadu, Vijay said that they would vote to make TVK the single largest party in the 2026 Assembly elections in the state. He said that thereafter, if parties want to form an alliance with his party, the TVK would give them a share in the government.

He said, “You fool the people by running an anti-people government by calling it the Dravidian model.” Vijay further declared that TVK would chart a new direction in Tamil Nadu politics, emphasizing inclusivity by announcing a share in power for allies joining the party.

Ahead of the rally, Tamil Nadu deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin wished his “dear friend” Vijay all the best for his future, news agency ANI reported. The State Conference of his newly formed political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, marks Vijay’s formal launch into the world of politics.

While taking about TVK’s ideology, Vijay said that they were not going to “separate Dravidian Nationalism and Tamil Nationalism”.

"In terms of ideology, we are not going to separate Dravidian Nationalism and Tamil Nationalism. They are two eyes of this soil. We shouldn't shrink ourselves to any specific identity. Secular Social Justice ideologies are our ideology and we going to act based on that. After reading the failures and successful stories in politics. I have left my career at the peak and that salary and I am here as your Vijay, trusting you all," he said, as quoted by news agency ANI.

Actor Vijay entered into politics and announced the name of his party - Tamilaga Vetri Kazham in February this year.
