As the investigation proceeds into the Kannada actress Ranya Rao's alleged gold smuggling case, the concerned officials are releasing some of the shocking details. The reports suggest that this was not the first time the actress had brought gold from Dubai. Ranya Rao reportedly traveled to Dubai 30 times over the past year and allegedly brought back gold on each trip.

The actress was paid Rs 1 lakh per kilogram for smuggling gold from Dubai and allegedly earned almost Rs 12-13 lakh per trip, India Today reported, citing sources. Further investigations revealed that she used modified jackets and belts for travel and did hide the smuggled gold in the modified jackets. Even at the time of her arrest by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), she was hiding the smuggled gold in her modified dress.
