Northern Railway has achieved a remarkable milestone this financial year by crossing Rs 500 crore in parcel and luggage revenue. Officials credit this success to enhanced services, a dependable transportation system, and growing customer confidence.

Alongside its focus on freight and passenger amenities, Northern Railway has been consistently improving its parcel and luggage operations. Major revenue contributors include special parcel trains, leasing of SLRs (Seating-cum-Luggage Rakes) and VPs (Vans), Parcel Cargo Express Trains (PCET), and Joint Parcel Product-Rapid Cargo Service (JPP-RCS).

This fiscal year, Northern Railway operated 151 special parcel trains, generating ₹35.08 crore. Additionally, leasing 266 SLRs brought in Rs 134.46 crore, while VP leasing earned Rs 129.78 crore—this includes two VPs from the Delhi division and 53 from other zones.

Currently, two PCET services—Panipat to Yesvantpur and Patelnagar to Royapuram—have contributed Rs 29.95 crore in revenue. Moreover, two JPP-RCS trains, operating between Yesvantpur and Hazrat Nizamuddin-Renigunta, have earned Rs 6.28 crore.
