BJP MP Jayant Sinha representing Hazaribagh, has expressed his desire not to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Sinha, who is also a former minister, cited his intention to focus on combating climate change in India and globally as the reason for his decision. He made the announcement through a post on social media platform X, where he stated that he has requested BJP president J P Nadda to relieve him from direct electoral duties.

Sinha said that while he aims to step back from contesting elections, he remains committed to working with the party on economic and governance issues. He extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and the BJP leadership for the opportunities provided to him during his tenure as a public servant.

“I have had the privilege of serving the people of Bharat and Hazaribagh for the past ten years. Moreover, I have been blessed by the many opportunities provided by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, Hon’ble Home Minister Shri Amit Shah ji, and the BJP leadership. My sincerest gratitude to all of them. Jai Hind,” he added.

The BJP is reportedly considering fielding new leaders for the upcoming elections, with several sitting MPs expressing their desire to focus on other organisational responsibilities. Sinha's decision to not contest the elections comes hours after former India cricketer Gambhir requested to relieve him from electoral duties.

Earlier today, Gautam Gambhir, the BJP MP from East Delhi, also expressed his request to BJP Chief JP Nadda, to be relieved from political duties to focus on his cricket commitments.

“I have requested Hon’ble Party President JP Nadda ji to relieve me of my political duties so that I can focus on my upcoming cricket commitments. I sincerely thank Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi
ji and Hon’ble HM Amit Shah ji for giving me the opportunity to serve the people. Jai Hind!,” Gambhir posted on X.
