The carrier put out the statement early on Saturday after AAIB released its initial investigation report late on Friday. “Air India stands in solidarity with the families and those affected by the AI171 accident. We continue to mourn the loss and are fully committed to providing support during this difficult time,” Air India said in a statement.
Moreover, the airline further added that it is working with the concerned parties, saying “Air India is working closely with stakeholders, including regulators. We continue to fully cooperate with the AAIB and other authorities as their investigation progresses.”
Shedding light on the cause of the plane crash, the AAIB report highlighted that both engine of the Boeing 787-8 flight was shut down seconds after it took off due to a sudden transition of their cut-off service.
The report mentioned the last moment conversation between the pilots in the cockpit where one pilot asks why the fuel service has been cut off, to which the other pilot replies that no such action was taken. CCTV footage showed the deployment of the Ram Air Turbine (RAT), indicating a complete engine failure shortly after liftoff.
