A female suspect who walked into a jewellery store in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, planning a robbery, was instead slapped almost 20 times within just 25 seconds by the shopkeeper after the owner successfully thwarted her plan.

The incident took place on November 3 at approximately 12:30 pm and was fully captured on CCTV footage that has now gone viral across social media. Covering herself with a dupatta over her face, pretending to be an ordinary customer, the woman stepped into the gold and silver outlet located near the Ranip vegetable market in Ahmedabad.

Within moments, she suddenly threw chilli powder directly into the shopkeeper's eyes to blind him and carry out the robbery.

Shopkeeper Slaps Her 20 Times In 25 Seconds

The chilli powder did not reach his eyes. Sensing her criminal intent, the shopkeeper sprang to his feet and unleashed a barrage of nearly 20 slaps in just 25 seconds, then vaulted over the counter, seized her, and hauled her outside the store, all while continuing to rain down blows.

Shopkeeper Refuses To File Formal Complaint

Despite the shopkeeper's repeated refusal to file a formal complaint, even after two personal visits from officers, authorities have independently started a probe to identify and locate the woman, on the basis of store's CCTV recordings.

Ranip Police Station Inspector Ketan Vyas confirmed that they met the shop owner twice.

"In this case, the complainant was personally met twice to obtain a statement in this regard and was asked to file the complaint, but the complainant businessman is not inclined to lodge any complaint in this matter. Nevertheless, an investigation has been initiated to search for the accused based on the CCTV footage,"Ahmedabad Police said, in an X statement.
