A 25-year-old medical student died by suicide at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Raipur inside his hostel room. According to a preliminary investigation, the deceased, identified as Ranjit Bhoyar, was doing an MBBS PG internship. Police said that the deceased was suffering from depression for several days. He was also undergoing treatment for the same.
On Tuesday, his friends found him unconscious in his hostel room inside the institute's campus. They immediately informed the hostel warden about Bhoyar, an official said.
Doctors were called to examine him during which he was pronounced dead. According to an officer at the Amanaka police station, no suicide note was retrieved from the dead. According to the police official, the deceased was a resident of Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

The officer stated that after obtaining information regarding the occurrence, the police arrived at the scene and, following a post-mortem, handed over the body to the family members. He further stated that Bhoyar was suffering from depression and was being treated. He went on to say that the student had not finished his postgraduate internship since last year, which made him depressed.
According to the police officer, a case has been filed in this matter, and an additional investigation is underway.
