Around 150 passengers flying from Kochi to Pune on an Air India Express (AIX) flight faced a delay of more than eight hours on Thursday. The flight, AIX 9910, was originally scheduled to depart at 5:15 pm but took off at 1:50 am on Friday. Passengers onboard reported that the airline repeatedly rescheduled the Kochi-Pune flight without providing clear communication or timely assistance.

The departure was initially delayed to 7:15 pm, then further postponed to 9:15 pm, but the flight still did not take off and was delayed again.

One passenger, Hari Pillai, a software engineer from Pune, told The Indian Express that, even after 9:15 pm, the airline failed to provide any updates about the flight. "After passengers raised concerns about the lack of assistance, airline staff eventually provided meals and informed us that the flight would depart around 11:55 pm. However, the flight only took off around 12:15 am," he said.

“When I raised this issue on social media, I noticed another passenger complaining about a disruption in Bengaluru. I learned that the Ayodhya-Bengaluru flight had been canceled, which affected the Bengaluru-Kochi flight, ultimately causing the delay for the Kochi-Pune route,” Pillai added.

"We were waiting near the boarding gate for the final call, with passengers growing increasingly impatient to board," he said.

Another passenger expressed similar frustrations on social media, writing: "It is unforgettable for us who are suffering at the hands of you guys for the last 8 hours."

A frustrated passenger also posted, "Still stranded at Pune airport after a 10-hour delay for a flight to Kochi. Pathetic customer service and extremely poor management from Air India Express. Every delay is being communicated only 2 minutes before with no accountability. Taking them to the consumer forum!"

In response, the Air India Express team replied, "This is not the experience we want you to have. Could you please share your booking details (PNR) with us via DM so that we can investigate further?"

An Air India Express spokesperson told The Indian Express that they were awaiting information from higher authorities regarding the cause of the delay. However, updates were provided by the spokesperson throughout the evening.
